I'm very excited
to be published in the November 2011 and August 2011 issues of Bead Trends Magazine!
For the November issue 'Organic
Jardin' is featured in the Fashion Favorites segment of the magazine. This whimsical necklace with it's antique
brass and floral details was designed around the beautiful artisan lampwork beads by Grace Ma. Grace Ma beads are hand
made in California using the finest Venetian glass.
The August issue featured 'Under the Sea' in the
Necklaces segment of the magazine. This piece is unique because I used an ancient Japanese braiding system referred
to as kumihimo. Kumihimo means 'the gathering of threads'. For this design my pattern had to be well
thought out. All the threads had to have the beads applied to them before the braiding could begin. You truly
have to begin with the end in mind to create a beaded kumihimo piece. Using this acient braiding technique to
design one of a kind jewelry reminds us how timeless an art form such as kumihimo is.
